They came from far around, To find a viewing place,

Looking for higher ground, Or a free, wide open space,

For the spectre in the sky, A first in a generation,

To be eye witnessed, A celestial celebration,

And the earth turned, the moon traversed,

Aligning orbits and shadow cast,

Sure in passing, keeping time,

A wonder of audacious design.

And the people they came, And those people they saw,

Staring skyward, In joy and in awe,

The sky was a theatre, High, broad and clear,

The drama played out, In expectant atmosphere,
